Basingstoke Gang Show Update

18 February 2021

Please see below update from Basingstoke Gang Show

“Considering the uncertainty which COVID-19 brings to our lives we have had to consider the impact, feasibility, and implications for Basingstoke Gang Show.

Following conversations and consultations with the volunteers at Basingstoke Gang Show (BGS), we have come to the decision to postpone BGS for one year.

So, dates and activities will all shift by 12 months, as follows:

  • Auditions will be in May 2022
  • Rehearsals will start in September 2022
  • Performance at the Haymarket will be in February 2023

Our plan (if allowable) is to work towards a Christmas Carol (big get together) in December 2021 to give an opportunity to get volunteers, cast and crew from past and most recent BGS’s together.

Then in February 2022 to hold a weekend of activities in 4 x half day sessions.

  • 2 of these sessions will be to invite Cubs, Scouts, Guides and Explorers to a half day of BGS fun and theatre. The aim to experience what BGS is all about, have fun and be aware of BGS ahead of auditions in May.
  • We also plan to invite adult volunteers (red and white scarf folk) to come and be part of a BGS number to sing/dance and have fun together at different sessions over the same weekend.

Jester Day in April 2022 is also panned ot happen to support badge work and a fun activity/event.

Steve Edney, Chair, Basingstoke Gangshow”
