Introducing our ADC Young Leaders

30 September 2021

Welcome to Annmarie Smith-Browne as our newly appointed Assistant District Commissioner for Young Leaders.

Previously we had a Young Leader Section Lead in Naomi Bailey, who I am pleased to say is moving onto other roles within the District as well as taking young people from Hampshire on the next World Scout Jamboree. We would like to thank Noami for all she has done with Young Leaders during her time in this role and wish her all the success for her new roles.

The introduction of the ADC Young Leader role is to ensure we are enhancing our offering and support to young leaders by bringing this role into our ADC Structure. We are really excited that Annmarie has taken on this role and are looking forward to working closely on this.

We are pleased to include a short introduction from Annmarie below.

Hello everyone,

My name is Annmarie, and I am pleased to say I have taken on the role of ADC Young Leaders. I have been involved in Scouting since I was 11 at 8th Basingstoke. I returned to start a Beaver colony at 8th Basingstoke 14(ish) years ago, did a brief stint as an Explorer leader with Dragons and currently a Scout leader back with the 8th Basingstoke.

So what does the role of ADC Young Leaders actually do?

I will be responsible for engaging all leaders and young leaders to make sure they are getting the most out of each other. I would like to support leaders in how they can help their YL’s achieve their missions and successfully complete their training. I will also be working with the Young Leaders from Explorers and DofE to make sure they are supported in achieving their goals.

If you have any questions or issues, please get in touch at annmarie.smith-browne@bescouts.org.uk

I look forward to seeing you all soon

Kindest regards,

Annmarie
