Making life simpler – Nights Away Notifications

We are changing the process for Nights Away Notifications (NAN Forms) to bring everyone onto the same process, remove paperwork and to make them more dynamic should you need to update. This change is an aim to make life simpler for our adult volunteers.

What’s changing?

Instead of completing a word document and emailing to the nights away inbox, you’ll now complete your NAN online. You’ll receive confirmation of your NAN as well as confirmation once this has been approved.  Within your confirmation you’ll also be able to get straight back to the NAN and edit it where required, for example updating your final numbers.

This process takes immediate effect. To allow some crossover period, forms via the old process will be accepted until 30th September 2022 and after that date will automatically be rejected and you will be directed to the online process.

What’s the process?

• Camp date set and initial arrangements are in place, go to bescouts.org.uk/nan and complete a nights away notification with your estimated numbers and permit holder details.
• You’ll get an email with confirmation of what you’ve submitted. Use this email to go back and edit the form at any time.
• You’ll get a further email once the event has been provisionally approved by the district team.
• A MINIMUM of 7 days before your event, you must update with your final numbers and your risk assessment. You’ll once again get a confirmation email of this and your final approval.
