Welcome Natalie Elliott

28 September 2022

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Natalie Elliott as Group Scout Leader, at 6th Basingstoke (Oakridge). It is really great to have Natalie coming onboard and we look forward to working together.

Please see a short introduction from Natalie below

I’m very excited to be taking on the Group Scout Leader role at 6th Basingstoke (Oakridge), in addition to my Cub Leader role.
I’ve been in Scouting since my Son joined Beavers in 2016, where I took on a Section Assistant role, that turned into a Beaver Leader role. I moved Groups in March 2020, where I ended up being in my current role of Cub Leader. I also have 2 children, who have both been through Beavers and Cubs, one in Scouts and one about to go up to Scouts next month.

My professional background is HR, Learning and Development, Management and Project Management, the skills of which fit really nicely into Scouting. I’ve been First Aid trained several times over, having started my training as a child in Badgers, St John’s Ambulance Service.

I love the whole Scouting ethos; “To do your best, To be Kind, To help other people, To be Trusted”, and learn valuable Life skills whilst having fun, which very much fit into my own values. We shy away from nothing; everything is a learning opportunity.
“Do not train a child to learn by force or harshness; but direct them to it by what amuses their minds, so that you may be better able to discover with accuracy the peculiar bent of the genius of each.”
― Plato

6th Basingstoke is also my local Group where I live, so I very much understand the impact I can have. I hope to continue to grow and develop the group, working with our amazing, experienced Leaders to deliver fantastic learning experiences for our Young People.
