Welcome Richard Green!

We are pleased to announce the Richard Green has come on board to help support Young Leaders across Basingstoke East. We are super excited to welcome Richard, and ask that all young leader enquiries go to youngleaders@bescouts.org.uk where Richard will be more than happy to help.

Back when the Internet was dial-up and Tamagotchi’s were cool, I was a Cub, a Scout, and a Venture Scout in New Forest North District outside Southampton. After a spell away, I returned in 2015 as an Assistant Cub Scout Leader with 1st Chineham at the same time as my girls joining Cubs. In the flash of an eye, eight years have passed, my own kids are now teenagers, and I’m somehow now the Section Leader for not one but two Sections. How did that happen?!

In 2018, I took over the role of Section Leader for Phoenix ESU which we’ve since successfully merged with our compadres from Dragon ESU to form the newer, bigger, and better Yeti ESU bringing Explorers together from all over Basingstoke East. As we already see three quarters of the Young Leaders in our District at Yeti ESU each week, it made sense for me to volunteer for this Young Leaders ESU Section Leader role when it came up; we’re perfectly positioned to help the young people with their training, awards, and with support they need in undertaking their role in helping to run the other Sections.

I’m looking forward to meeting those of you who we don’t already know through Yeti ESU and helping all of your achieve your Young Leader Missions and Award!
