Cub & Scout Camp 2024
11 July 2024
The late May Bank Holiday saw 64 Cubs and Scouts battle their way through the traffic around the M25 to Gilwell Park, a site steeped in scouting history since 1919.
We took advantage of being able to book different activities from the usual ones, giving opportunities for the young people (and leaders) to try something new.
Grass sledging took place on a part of Gilwell with the most amazing scenery, giving the leaders the biggest workout as they brought the sledges back up the hill for yet another race down.
There was aeroball for the bouncing basketball fans.
Fencing proved to be a popular choice for a new sport to try out.
Coracle building resulted in varying rates of success and a much-needed shower afterwards.
No camp would be the same without a campfire. We were lucky enough to have an expert run us through an extensive repertoire of songs, some of which we hadn’t heard before. There was much laughter as we threw them out of the window! My new favourite.
We now look forward to our camp next year.
