Old Basing & 11th Basingstoke Cub Camp

31 October 2024

To celebrate the start of the summer holidays, 38 Cubs from Old Basing and 11th Basingstoke joined together for a camp at Earleywood Campsite. Throughout the busy weekend, the Cubs got the opportunity to enjoy loads of activities whilst experiencing their first ever camp in the woods!

After arriving and setting up their tents on Friday evening, it was all go come Saturday when the Cubs were set the task of building a fire and cooking their lunch of a toastie sandwich and soup over it. To achieve this, they learned about how to build and maintain a fire, some knife skills to make feather sticks and how to cook properly on an open fire. After their tasty meal, they then tried out Abseiling, Air Rifles, Archery and even made their own hammocks. By the time we got round to the campfire in the evening, everyone had earned themselves a s’more while they enjoyed some songs led by Craig!

Sunday was also busy as the Cubs helped to pack-up the camp whilst enjoying Mini-Golf and the Traversal wall at Earleywood. They also got to play Football, Spikeball, Swingball and Badminton during their free time.

Despite how tiring the weekend was, all the Cubs who camped with us had an amazing time and were asking when we would be camping again! A massive thanks to every Old Basing, 11th and District Leader who helped us pull this camp together in such a short period of time and gave the Cubs such an amazing weekend!
