Enhance Your Scouting Skills with Hampshire’s Training Programme

Are you looking to develop your Scouting skills, complete your Wood Badge, or refresh your knowledge? Hampshire Scouts are offering a series of engaging and practical training sessions designed for leaders at all levels. Whether you need personal development or specific module training, these courses provide the perfect opportunity to enhance your expertise.

Skills and Personal Development Day – 1st March 2025
Location: Ferny Crofts

This one-day event, organised by Hampshire Scouts, is ideal for leaders who are looking to refine their skills, learn new techniques, or revisit key areas of leadership. The sessions cater to a wide range of Scouting sections, from Squirrels to Explorers. Throughout the day, you will have the chance to take part in workshops covering topics such as:

 – Adventurous Activities: Understanding rules, permits, and safety measures.
 – Navigation Skills: Using maps and compasses to explore with younger sections.
 – Young Leaders: How to support and get the best from Young Leaders in your team.
 – Behaviour Management: Strategies to handle minor interruptions and encourage positive behaviour.
 – Risk Assessments: Guidance on completing, recording, and sharing effective risk assessments.
 – Backwoods Skills: Fire lighting, cooking, and survival skills.
 – Practical Pioneering: Project ideas and hands-on activities.
 – Digital Systems: How to use OSM and the new membership system effectively.
 – Knot Tying: Learning and teaching knots across all sections.
 – First Aid Drop-in: A practical session on essential first aid skills.

The day is structured into four sessions, running from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with breaks and a lunch period (please bring your own packed lunch). The final session includes an open Q&A with Scouting experts, allowing you to seek guidance on any topic.

Wood Badge Module Training – 22nd & 23rd March 2025
For leaders looking to complete their Wood Badge, Hampshire Scouts are providing a residential training weekend. Under the new Learning Tree framework, six essential modules must be completed and validated. This immersive experience provides the necessary support to help you achieve your qualification while connecting with other leaders in a collaborative learning environment.
