Adult RegistrationLearn More

Open to Cubs, Scouts & Explorers

This really exciting adventure is the chance to offer your young people a activity packed summer camp in one of the most scenic parts of the country. We will be staying at Scout Adventures, Great Tower and taking part in activities that are just not available more locally. The site offers all sorts of water activities on Lake Windermere as well as chances to explore local caves and hill.

This event is open to all eligible young people in the district regardless of if you have leader availability, so please do offer this event out to your members. We do ofcourse need leaders and plenty of them, and you can find out more about this below.

Scouts & Explorers

1st-7th August

Scouts & Explorers are invited for a 6 night stay, with plenty of days full of activities plus a day out. The cost of the event includes transport to and from Basingstoke, transport as required in the lakes, all activities, all meals.

£300

per participant

Cubs

3th – 7th August

Cubs are invited for a slightly shorter 4 night stay, but no less excitement. They will experience lots of great activities and a day out in the Lake District. Transport is included as is all meals and activity costs

£200

per participant

Due to the distance from home on this event, we strongly recommend that all participants have completed at least one full weekend away with Scouting before attending.

Leaders

We couldn’t run these great events without our amazing volunteers, so we’re calling on once again to join us on this exciting adventure.

We know a Summer Camp is a lot of time off to ask you for so we are covering leader costs in full for this event. Your transport, camp fees & food will all be covered by district for this event.

If you’re not able to do the whole 6 night event that’s not a problem, we also need some volunteers to join us for the shorter 4 night event. Simply let us know on the registration form what you can do and we will try to accomodate it.

We are sure as leaders you’ll have an amazing time too!

A few more details…

How does a young person sign up?

We will share the event to you on OSM, please accept this event and invite your young people. If you don’t use the parent portal events function that’s no problem, when they confirm attendance simply update the event to ‘attending’ for that young person.

When does it have to be paid?

A £50 deposit is due at the time of registration. District will invoice this to your group after registration closes. The balance payment is due to district by 30th June.  Don’t forget there is no payment due for leaders but you must register as a leader and not via OSM.

When does registration close?

Registration closes on 10th April 2022. All participants must be showing as attending on OSM by that date.

We have no leaders who can attend, can my young people still go?

Absolutely yes! This event is open to all young people regardless of group attendance.

Is it a little long for younger Scouts & Cubs?

We want to offer exciting opportunities to as many young people as possible, due to distance and time we strongly recommend only inviting young people who have attended at least a full weekend away with Scouting.

What is the transport?

We currently have a number of options available to us within our pricing structure which very much depend on numbers. Either coach travel or a number of minibuses, when registering as a leader you maybe asked if you’d be happy to drive a minibus should we go down that route.

What kit is required?

Participants will need to bring a standard camp style kit with them. Groups may need to help with the provision of tents for their group people. District will source the main communal kit.

Why is it 6 nights?

Due to the popularity of this site, even when securing our pitch last year we were only able to arrive on site on Monday 1st August. For a full 7 night stay it would mean returning on a Monday which was potentially additional time off work for our volunteers, we therefore decided to opt for 6 nights allowing us to return on the Sunday.
