Supporting Young People with additional needs- Makaton Training

24 May 2022

As part of our ongoing commitment to making Scouting inclusive and accessible to all we are running a Makaton Training session next Monday (30th May) from 5.30-7pm at 1st Basingstoke (Trinity Methodist) Sarum Hill, Basingstoke RG21 8SR. The session will be run by Debbie who is certified Makaton Trainer for the Makaton Charity.

What is Makaton? Makaton is the UK’s leading language programme for adults and children with learning or communication difficulties that uses symbols, signs and speech to enable people to communicate. For adults and children who have experienced the frustration of being unable to communicate meaningfully or effectively, Makaton really can help. Makaton takes away that frustration and enables individuals to connect with other people and the world around them.
You can find more information here: https://makaton.org/

We have 20 spaces on this training session which must be booked in advance (via email to georgina.charlton@bescouts.org.uk) and will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.

Please do reach out to me if you have any further questions.
