BEASTLY 2024 – Bookings Open

26 January 2024

We are pleased to announce that participant bookings for BEASTLY 2024 are now open! BEASTLY ’24 will take place on Saturday 18th May, at Dummer Down Farm, and during the evening, our Summer Social will return.

This event is open to all sections/volunteers and will be an opportunity to take part in over 50 different activities in a single day (with plenty of new activities) – it’s going to be a busy one! Ranging from Climbing Wall, to inflatable Subbuteo, to Tightrope Walking, to Crafts, to camp skills – there will be an activity for everyone!

We’ve moved locations this year to allow us to scale and continue creating the best possible Scout event!

Like last year, as we have exclusive use of the site, we’ve also wrapped our Summer Volunteer Social event into the same weekend, and this year will feature live music during the evening. Once our young people have gone for the day, the site is open to all our volunteers (and their families) from across the district to camp for the night and spend some time networking and enjoying the camping that we all love. As part of this, we’ll provide dinner and breakfast for all volunteers who helped during the day, and you can add extra people for £7 each (or convince them to volunteer for the day and come free!). We then have the opportunity on Sunday morning to take part in some of the activities before leaving around mid-day.

As you can imagine, an event this size requires as many volunteers as possible, and you can sign up for BEASTLY and the Summer Social here (https://beastly.org.uk/volunteer/).

Section Leaders, you will have received an invite via OSM today, which we ask you to publish to your young people – this will give us an accurate idea of numbers while we’re planning the final stages of the day. We’ve set a deadline of 31st March for bookings.

There is a small £8 charge per young person to help cover the event running costs; this is being subsidized by Basingstoke East Scouts. There will be an opportunity for young people to upgrade to include lunch and a hoodie/t-shirt closer to the event.

So, what do YOU need to do right now?

  • Log into OSM, accept the invite, and push it out to your young people.
  • Talk to all the volunteers in your section and find out who’s free to help and get them to sign up here (https://beastly.org.uk/volunteer).

There will be a volunteer briefing at 19:00 on Thursday 9th May, online. This will be a chance to ask any last-minute questions and find out more about how the day will work.

If you have any questions, please reach out via events@bescouts.org.uk.
