Introducing our District Youth Commissioner

31 August 2021

We are really excited to welcome onboard Harrison Gorst as our District Youth Commissioner for Basingstoke East. We are looking forward to working with Harrison and are pleased to include a short introduction from him below.

Hello Basingstoke East,

My name is Harrison and I’m pleased to announce that I’ll be your new District Youth Commissioner! I have been involved in Scouting since the age of 6 when I joined Bramley Group as a Beaver, and have never left.

You may be wondering what the role of DYC actually does?

The Youth Commissioner is responsible for ensuring that the voices of young people are heard at every level of the organisation, from the Group to District and County. This involves helping GSLs recruit and retain young adults, as well as ensuring that they’re represented on the executive committees and District exec.

Should your groups have any under 25 adults looking to get involved in producing programme ideas/ helping to organise Youth events, please do get in touch at: harrison.gorst@bescouts.org.uk

Kind regards,

Harrison Gorst

District Youth Commissioner
