Festival of Transport 2022

Following the amazing success of attending Basingstoke Festival of Transport last year we have been asked to attend the event again this year. This event was really good for promoting Scouting in Basingstoke and resulted in a great uptake of young people registering as well as a few adult volunteers. This years event takes place on Sunday 8th May.

Last year we took a climbing wall with us to allow people the chance to try a Scouting type activity, and we’re are pleased to say that will be returning this year. The wall was such as success last year that we wanted to build on this, so we are also in the process of arranging for a cave bus to join us on site. We are really excited that this will allow us to offer two Scouting activities to members of the public to help drive interest in Scouting. We will again charge a small fee for these activities to cover the cost of us getting them on site.

We can’t do this without you though….we are calling on volunteers from across the district to sign up to help us for the day. We need people to run the climbing wall, caving experience, talk to potential members and volunteers, and much more. The impact of this event really does help every single group so we really hope that every group can be represented across the day.

We know we’re asking you to give up some more of your time so we’ve divided the day up into time slots so you don’t have to be with us the whole day, simply let us know what times you can help out. If you’d like to come along all day, then simply select them all. Nearer the time we will also be asking some young people to join us again too.
