Welcome Dawn Spreadbury

16 January 2024

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dawn Spreadbury as Group Lead Volunteer at 1st Basingstoke (Trinity Methodist). Dawn joined the trustee board of the group around a year ago and has been a real asset so we are excited to welcome her to this role.

Volunteering with Scouts is very much around flexibility of roles and we really encourage sharing of roles so that people can do what they enjoy most and where they feel their skills but fit for them. Dawn will be taking on a lot of the face to face portion of the role, whilst Paul Hogan-Williams will continue to support the group from an administrative side.

This is an exciting time for 1st Basingstoke as they will shortly be moving to a new home due to the closure of their current location.

Please see a short introduction from Dawn below

Hello! My name is Dawn and I am the new Group Scout Leader for 1st Basingstoke. I first got involved in scouting when my son started cubs. I knew shortly after him joining that I wanted to be involved in such a community based group and the positive ethos scouting has.

As a profession, I work in operation management in school catering. This role includes working with the children and educating them on nutrition along with teaching them that healthy eating can be fun! Along with this I have a vast experience in people development.

I am very much looking forward to working with the team at 1st Basingstoke so we can grow and develop and provide the best opportunities for the young people in our group.
